Christmas with the Trumps
Although college students are hopped up on caffeine and no sleep while getting ready for finals, other people in the world are preparing for the holiday season. As I was scrolling through Facebook drinking my chai tea yesterday morning, I was bombarded with posts about the royal engagement but then I came across an interesting video.
Melania Trump has finished decorating, primping, and polishing the White House to welcome the whimsical feeling of this wonderful season. The White House was breathtakingly beautiful. With a large White House Gingerbread replica and the landscape of a winter wonderland of anyone's childhood dreams, the White House is ready for Christmas.
I couldn't help but praise Melania for a moment not for her taste in men but for her taste in classy holiday decorum fit for the President of the United States.
However, the media ripped her apart for acting like she had done it all herself in the White House video. The video showed Melania tying bows and monitoring how each piece of the decorations was placed. Well, she clearly can't tie a bow and she really didn't know what she was doing as far as the decorations, ornaments, and trees. It was clear to see by her body language and because of this, the media was not happy whatsoever.
I still sympathize with Mrs. Trump. Granted, she may not have put every ornament on the tree or frosted the gingerbread house, but the vision of how the White House would look was hers. There is no possible way that one person could decorate the White House. It's not humanly possible, and if she tried, she would be ready by next Christmas. Every year, the White House hires professional decorators to help carry out the First Lady's vision. Melania was no different but her vision was old-fashioned, vintage, and made me truly in awe. I don't think that the media had any right to criticize her when previous First Ladies have not been scrutinized so heavily. She is not her husband, and the display at the White House is truly spectacular. Grab you a chai latte and sip on that.
